The Rolex Submariner Reference 1680 is one of the most historically significant sports watches ever created, notable as the very first Submariner reference to feature a date window and the iconic cyclops crystal. While early executions featured the famous red text, the "White Sub" production runs from the late 1970s have become highly prized by collectors for their clean, monochromatic tool-watch aesthetic and unbeatable vintage charm.
Dating to 1979, this specific example boasts an exceptionally strong and fat Oyster case that preserves its sharp lines beautifully. The original matte dial is perfectly preserved, featuring evenly aged tritium plots that match the beautifully patinated tritium handset. Crucially for the vintage purist, the watch retains its rare, original period-correct date wheel featuring the iconic "open 6" typography. It comes fitted on a period-correct 93150 Oyster bracelet with 580 end links and an N12 clasp code (dating to a factory replacement in December 1989), offering a full 11 links. Accompanied by a vintage Rolex box, this is a remarkably honest, collector-grade execution of a legendary diving icon.

HANDS: Original tritium hands, completely intact and showing a beautiful patina that has aged just a fraction lighter than the dial plots, an occurrence frequently observed in original late-70s sets.
CASE: Stainless steel Oyster case in very good, strong condition, displaying thick lugs and great lines. The bezel is exceptionally clean with almost no scratches, featuring a neatly replaced pearl at the 12 o'clock position.
