The history of the Speedmaster dates back to 1957 when Omega introduced a legendary trio of professional tool watches: the Seamaster 300, the Railmaster, and the Speedmaster. Originally conceived for high-speed automobile racing and sports timing, the original reference CK 2915 set the blueprint for modern chronograph design—most notably by moving the tachymeter scale from the dial onto an external brushed steel bezel, an industry first.
To commemorate the 60th anniversary of this historic milestone in 2017, Omega utilized precision digital tomography scanning of original 1957 museum pieces to reconstruct a near-microscopic faithful reissue: the Speedmaster 60th Anniversary "1957 Trilogy," reference 311.10.39.30.01.001. Limited to exactly 3,557 pieces worldwide, this execution honors every detail of the foundational CK 2915: symmetrical straight-lug 38.6mm case architecture, non-crown-guard profile, brushed steel tachymeter bezel, original 1950s Omega font signature, and the iconic Broad Arrow hands.
The matte black dial features a subtle tropical tone with vintage-toned Super-LumiNova markers that replicate the aged radium appearance of early originals while ensuring modern longevity. Beating beneath the solid caseback—engraved with the original 1957 Seahorse emblem—is the revered manual-wind Omega Calibre 1861, maintaining the direct mechanical lineage of space-proven Speedmasters.
Preserved in true time-capsule collector condition from 2018, this watch remains untouched: the factory protective sticker remains intact on the caseback, and the original stainless steel flat-link bracelet is completely unworn and still fully factory stickered. Delivered as a complete Full Set with its dedicated presentation box, historical straps, and cards, this represents an investment-grade acquisition of one of Omega's most respected modern tributes.
