The history of the Speedmaster dates back to 1957, when it was initially introduced as a high-precision sports and racing chronograph. It earned its definitive place in history when NASA selected it for all manned space missions, leading to July 20th, 1969, when Apollo 11 touched down on the lunar surface and Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin stepped onto the Moon. Ever since, the Speedmaster Professional has carried the iconic moniker "Moonwatch."

In 1994, Omega commemorated the 25th anniversary of this historic milestone with a dedicated limited edition series. The reference 3591.50.00 (ST 145.0022) features a special caseband engraving marking the Apollo XI 1969–1994 anniversary and was delivered with unique commemorative presentation items.

This specific example, sold in 1997 by an authorized Omega dealer in Austria, is preserved in an honest, unpolished state, retaining its factory case geometry, sharp transitions, and crisp lyre lugs. Inside beats the venerable hand-wound Omega Caliber 861, which runs exceptionally well with a healthy amplitude of 260°.

What truly elevates this piece is its remarkable completeness. Delivered exactly as it left the retailer at first purchase, it comes as a complete collector's set: original box, outer box, Austrian warranty papers, original Apollo 11 mission patch, and the commemorative moon landing booklet. Preserved on its original full-length stainless steel bracelet, this is an outstanding opportunity for the discerning Speedmaster collector.
