ABOUT

THE VIENNA WATCH CLUB

The Vienna Watch Club is a place for people who are convinced that the world of horology and the deep rabbit hole of watch collecting and watches in general are passions that unite people. The Club was founded to share knowledge and experience among watch collectors, enthusiasts, and aficionados. It is a place where we can indulge in our love for timepieces, connect with fellow enthusiasts, exchange stories, discuss collections and new releases, celebrate our passion for watches and continue exploring the fascinating world of horology together.

Whether you are an experienced collector or relatively new into watches, interested in independent- or leading watchmaking brands, more of a diver- or dresswatch enthusiast. It is important to us that there is room for everyone - 'exclusive to the best timepieces, inclusive to everyone'.

We meet regularly in a pleasant atmosphere in Vienna to talk about our love for the timekeeping devices that our partners, friends and family do not always understand. Also, we organise exclusive events like brand boutique-, or trade fair visits as well as an annual watch swap meet.

Get hands-on and explore your curiosity. The Vienna Watch Club is for free!

ANDREAS PLATZL

My love for wristwatches has been a lifelong journey, one that started with my fascination for small objects and mechanical things as a child. This interest grew organically, evolving into a deep passion that continues to enrich my life.

As I grew older, my interest in watches intensified. As a student with limited funds but plenty of time, I turned to eBay to hunt for affordable vintage watches. This process involved buying watches, wearing them for some time, and then selling them on. Through this cycle, I learned what makes a good watch, understanding the nuances of dials, indices, and case conditions. Mistakes along the way were valuable lessons that deepened my knowledge and appreciation for watches.

What truly sparked my passion, however, were the people I met through these transactions. From long-time collectors who predated Instagram to young enthusiasts like myself, each interaction added to my love for watches. I found immense joy in lengthy conversations about watches, sharing stories, and learning from fellow collectors. The camaraderie and shared enthusiasm within the watch community were incredibly inspiring.
