Today's offering features this highly collectible, classic and original Constellation with ref. 2852/2853.

As one of the most enduring watch brands, Omega Constellation stands alone as an icon. Smaller watches have become increasingly popular in recent years, and this trend is only going to continue. The line was unveiled with the intention of showcasing OMEGA's craftsmanship by incorporating premium movements into a classic design. A star is featured on the dial's button as a constellation reference. Additionally, the case-back features the Observatory Logo, which serves as a reminder of Omega's prize-winning timepieces that were assessed in 1933 and 1936 at the Kew Observatory.

A few details must be mentioned, as this example is the best Omega had to offer at the time. The Arrow Head markers are one of the most sought-after features by seasoned collectors, and both the markers and the hands are made of solid rose gold. Additionally, this example is non-lume, which adds to its specialness.

This model was the successor to the Ref. 2652, the main difference being that it was fitted with the ‘new’ improved Series 500 movement, which was much more efficient than the older hammer-wound Cal. 354, which was the company's first attempt at an automatic movement. This is an early 2852, made shortly after the switch to the new movement. The superior 500 series was one of the finest, mass-produced automatic movements ever made. They became famous for powering the flagship Constellation and were officially certified as chronometers by the ‘Control Official Suisse des Chronometers’, the highest honour for a movement. Just a few years after Omega produced this watch with the 500 series movements, the company produced 20,000 Constellation watches in a row, all of which were awarded chronometer status with no failures.

Omega Constellation | Pie Pan 18K | ref. 2852/2853 from 1958 - 1960

  • The case is sharp and unpolished, and there are a few tiny hairlines on the case sides that were likely created during the opening and closing of the back. Other than that, the watch is in excellent overall condition. The Observatory case-back logo is one of the sharpest available. The back of the lugs has a few small marks that were most likely made during strap changes.

Beautiful patina and very small aging spots that are only visible up close are present on the dial.

The watch is functional and maintains accurate time.
