Introduced in 1955 alongside horological titans like the Rolex Milgauss and the Omega Railmaster, the first-generation IWC Ingenieur Reference 666AD represents the pinnacle of mid-century technical watchmaking. Originally engineered specifically for scientists, doctors, and engineers, this pioneering tool watch was built to withstand the strong magnetic fields found in modern laboratories and industrial environments.

Beneath its elegant exterior lies a highly sophisticated defense system: an inner soft-iron core that forms a Faraday cage, shielding the movement from magnetic forces. This early execution features the historically accurate baton hands and a mesmerizing sunburst dial with tritium luminous plots. Powering this masterpiece is the legendary in-house Calibre 8521/8531, featuring the famous Pellaton winding system designed by Albert Pellaton. Celebrated for its bidirectional efficiency, the movement quite literally springs to life at the slightest movement of the wrist. Paired with a premium, new Fluco strap, this is an extraordinary piece of engineering history ready for the modern wrist.
