The story of Eterna’s KonTiki line begins with Norwegian explorer Thor Heyerdahl. In 1947, Heyerdahl and his crew of five embarked on a daring 101-day voyage aboard “Kon-Tiki,” a balsa-wood raft, drifting and sailing from Peru to the Polynesian Islands. Their mission was to prove Heyerdahl’s theory that Polynesia was settled from the east rather than the west.  
Beyond its scientific significance, the journey reignited a global spirit of exploration that had been overshadowed by decades of war. This tale of daring adventure and human resilience forms the foundation of Eterna’s KonTiki line—still their flagship collection to this day.
