The Rolex Sea-Dweller reference 1665 is a true milestone in the history of professional dive watches. Developed in the 1960s in collaboration with the French deep-sea diving company COMEX, the Sea-Dweller was designed to withstand the extreme conditions of saturation diving. Its defining feature is the helium escape valve on the side of the case, which allows trapped helium gas to safely decompress during an ascent, preventing the crystal from popping off.
 
This specific example from 1978 (Serial 541****) belongs to the highly sought-after "Great White" generation. Following the famous "Double Red" Sea-Dwellers, Rolex transitioned to a more understated, fully white text on the dial, giving the watch its nickname. This particular watch features the desirable MK1 dial configuration, characterized by its specific font typography and layout, representing the earliest iteration of the Great White series.
 
The watch boasts a beautiful matte black dial in very good condition, paired with well-preserved hands and a matching bezel insert. It is fitted with a solid Rolex 93150 Oyster bracelet (11 links, 585 end links) with a clasp code VD, dating the clasp to 1979. Please note that the clasp has been polished in the past, making the Rolex coronet only slightly visible. Most importantly, the movement has recently been fully serviced, ensuring reliable and precise timekeeping for its next owner.
