In the late 1950s, the demand for simple but exclusive timepieces was huge. With simplicity and elegance in mind, Omega's designers and engineers set out in search of the perfect wristwatch. In 1957, Omega launched the new iteration of the Seamaster line, the Omega Seamaster 14700 line, and the watch we are presenting to you today fulfills all these requirements! Born in Switzerland in 1961, the Seamaster combines a gold plated stainless steel case with gold details and a beautiful golden-cream-coloured dial. The applied gold Omega logo, which harmonises with the gold hands and indices, creates the perfectly balanced dial layout that Omega's designers were aiming for.
This Seamaster has another special detail: The font for the Seamaster text is the original font that was used on the first Seamasters. All these small details combined with the size of 34 mm make this simple watch a real eye-catcher. The watch runs on the robust calibre 552 with automatic winding and has a beautiful, aged patina. The watch is in good condition for its age, although the case has a few small scratches.
